Today I want to dive into a topic that affects millions worldwide—blood pressure. In writing this Blog I want to help you build an understanding of blood pressure causes and pathways to healing
High blood pressure, also known as hypertension, is often dubbed the “silent killer” because it typically has no noticeable symptoms until it causes significant health issues. But what if I told you that understanding the emotional and physical root causes can pave the way to healing?
The Silent Struggle
High blood pressure is a condition where the force of the blood against the artery walls is too high, which can lead to heart disease, stroke, and other health problems. The usual suspects often cited are poor diet, lack of exercise, and genetics. While these factors are most certainly influential, they don’t paint the entire picture.
The Emotional Connection
In my book, “Feel It to Heal It,” I emphasize the profound connection between our emotional well-being and physical health. Stress, anxiety, and unresolved emotional traumas can significantly contribute to hypertension. When we experience stress, our body enters a state of ‘fight or flight,’ releasing stress hormones like cortisol and adrenaline. These hormones temporarily raise blood pressure by causing your heart to beat faster and your blood vessels to narrow.
Over time, chronic stress can keep your body in this heightened state, leading to consistently high blood pressure. It’s like running a car engine at full throttle all the time—eventually, something has to give.
Healing from Within
Healing high blood pressure requires a holistic approach that addresses both the body and the mind. Here are some steps you can take:
Mindful Breathing and Meditation
Incorporating mindfulness practices like deep breathing and meditation can significantly reduce stress levels. These practices help activate the body’s relaxation response, lowering blood pressure.
Emotional Release
Allowing yourself to feel and process emotions is crucial. Bottled-up emotions can manifest physically, including in the form of high blood pressure. As I say in my book, “Emotions are meant to be felt, not suppressed. By acknowledging and releasing them, we free our bodies from their grasp.”
Healthy Lifestyle Choices
Adopting a balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, lean proteins, and whole grains can make a big difference. Regular physical activity also helps maintain healthy blood pressure levels. Remember, it’s not just about what you eat, but how you live.
Professional Support
Sometimes, we need a little help along the way. Therapists, counsellors, and holistic practitioners can provide support needed to navigate healing and provide essential management tools.
I Quote from my book ‘Feel It to Heal It’: ‘By tuning into our emotions and understanding their impact on our bodies, we can unlock the potential for true healing. High blood pressure isn’t just a physical ailment; it’s a signal that our body is out of balance. To heal, we must address both the body and the mind.’
Embrace the Journey
Healing high blood pressure by releasing the tension from your physical body is an easier and more effective process. Depending on the accumulative stress and trauma experienced it can be a journey that requires patience, compassion, and self-awareness. By embracing both the emotional and physical aspects of this condition, you can move towards a healthier, more balanced life. Remember, you have the power within you to heal.
I share the testimonial of one of our clients: Reducing Blood Pressure….
‘I wanted to share something that I found really strange (and positive!) but can only put down to practicing what I hade learned. I had a full medical carried out the other day as part of my health insurance policy requirements. For as long as I can remember, I have suffered from white coat syndrome, and my blood pressure readings are always on the high side because of this. I have never had a reading below 130/85 and the one I had done before releasing a few weeks ago, was 136/89! Anyway, I explained this to the nurse on Wednesday and said that it’s more normal at home but always high when someone else does it and waited for the result. You know I’ve been anxious anyway as the practice has stirred up some stuff, so I was expecting it to be even higher but was shocked when he said that it was coming out at 121/79, which is almost bang on perfect blood pressure! (120/80) this has NEVER happened before, and although it might seem daft, it’s significant to me. It means my internal workings are calmer and more regulated, which can only be because of the Total Release Experience® Process.’
Take care and be kind to yourself.
